Take the element of water, it has the quality of flowing and making connections. It is believed that using the water element within the home will enhance one’s career and boost good communication.
So what changes can you make in your home to include the beneficial powers of the water element? Let us take a look at some essential decorating tips and ideas to home improvement through Feng Shui.

Water Fountains – A water fountain or other water feature is an essential décor item for a home that needs the energy of water. There are many designs of water fountains and the size will depend on the space you have. There are some beautiful wall hanging fountains that can be placed accordingly to help the flow of energy. Most important is that you look for water fountains/features that incorporate stones and metal to resemble the earth and metal element respectively – this further enhances the qualities and power of water.
Mirrors And Glass – Both mirrors and glass resemble in part the element of water and mirrors in particular help to bounce energies throughout the home. The only rule to the placement of large mirrors or reflective surfaces, is to avoid them in the bedroom or behind your desk in the home office.
Colours – Each element in Feng Shui is resembled by one or more colours. Not surprisingly, one of the water colours is blue and the other colour is black. One of the easiest ways to make a change in colour is to buy a pot of paint and create a feature wall in beautiful blue or black. Using black chalkboard paint has been popular of late and gives you another unique option to bringing in the water element.
Textiles – Purchasing some cheap cushions, throws, rugs or window treatments in the colours of blue or black will also be a quick update to the the Feng Shui home. Try where you can to use natural materials such as silk or cotton. Roman blinds are a great choice in Aqua blue or Navy and they have a simple, non-fussy look that suits contemporary interiors. Wavy lines are the perfect pattern that is associated with the water element or anything that is curved rather than sharp-edged – scalloped roller blinds would be ideal.
Décor Pieces – Other décor pieces that can be used to help the flow of water energy include anything in the colour of blue or black, artworks or photography depicting scenes of the ocean, rivers or lakes. You can enhance your pictures by putting them in black rounded frames and placing them on a blue background.
