Window Dressing Ideas for Arched Windows: Wooden Blinds

If you’re lucky enough to have beautiful arched windows in your home you may be wondering how to bring a fresh new look to them using modern window dressing styles. Curtains are fine if you can find pliable curtain tracks to fit around the arch itself, however, more often than not straight curtain tracks or curtains poles are used, which is fine during the day when the curtains are drawn open but completely obscure the arch during the evenings and at night.

Another option if you have faux arches is to use wooden blinds or Venetian blinds. Either of these window dressing options will give you plenty of light as well as privacy. One of the biggest benefits is the ability to create some wonderful diffused lighting effects both day and night by adjusting the louvres.

Faux arches will also enable you to pull the blinds to the top of the window, behind the faux arch to make it look as if you don’t have a window dressing. This will also give you clear unobstructed views to your outside view. On a more practical note window cleaning will also be easy as you won’t have to take the blinds down!

You can of course use a combination of wooden blinds and curtains to create a dramatic and sensual look for bedrooms and relaxation areas of a sitting room or conservatory. Break the rules and try different and exciting ways to dress your windows; make a real focal point of them by showing them off at their very best! Be inspired to go for a dark and dramatic look, living rooms and bedrooms don’t have to be squeaky clean white! – dare to be different and you’ll see your entire room take on a new dimension.

Arched windows offer a Colonial interior design style when dressed in this way, using dark wooden blinds and polished black flooring that resembles (or is) ebony also shows opulence and refinement. The dark wood will bring a natural warmth to the room, while full length curtains, which are deliberately too long and left to pool onto the floor, hung from dark wooden curtain poles to compliment the blinds, adds height and a further touch of sensuality and seductiveness.

Don’t let anyone try and convince you that blinds can’t be sexy because they can! Just use your imagination and be inspired by others’ interior design ideas!
